On Saturday, February 4th, 2023, the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) invites you for a casual hike through the Steere Hill Conservation Area. This Saturday hike is part of the WRWC’s “Explore the Woonasquatucket’’ Recreation Series, which offers year-round guided tours of beautiful and historic sites throughout the Woonasquatucket River watershed – with paddle trips, hikes, and bike rides. This Winter, explore the watershed by land with a series of walks and hikes. On Saturday, hike Steere Hill Conservation Area, which has over 7 miles of wide dirt/gravel roads and narrower foot paths created by the Glocester Land Trust (GTL). Most trails have a gentle slope that visit scenic ledge vistas, vernal pools and wetlands, stands of American Beech, miles of stone walls, and trout streams. At the summit of Steere Hill is a field of native grasses and wildflowers, creating a wildlife habitat needed by ground nesting birds and mammals. This hike will take approximately 1.5 hours. This series is generously funded by REI CO-OP. Visit WRWC. ORG/EVENTS to register for this hike and to see the full “Explore the Woonasquatucket” Recreation Series schedule.
