1951 The Pawtucket Boys’ Club Grads, playing with an

iron-man five, romped to a 66-47 win over the Our Lady of Loreto quintet in a Two-State League tilt. George Duffy and Tom Duffy led the locals with 20 points each, Jimmy Durkin hooped 16 and Tom Whipple added 13. In badminton competition, Miss Ruth Blake of Pawtucket, the R. I. singles champion, teamed with Miss Beverly Bullin of Wellesley College to capture the “B” doubles tournament crown at the University Club, Boston.

1961 Jimmy Albright was a double winner sparking the Saint Raphael Academy natators to their first Interscholastic League victory of the campaign by topping North Kingstown 51-33. Albright was triumphant in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32) and the 200 medley (2:33.5). Roland Moussally aided the Saints’ total with a win in the 100 butterfly (1:10.4) and Robert Byrnes took first place in the diving competition with 36.2 points.

1971 Ed Broadley of Saint Raphael Academy is dominating the Blackstone Valley schoolboy basketball scoring race with an impressive 24.3 points per game average. Rounding out the top 10 point-getters are Tolman’s Gary Rabe (17.7 ppg), Al Sabella of Pawtucket West (16.5), Central Falls’ Stan Balon (16.0), Mike Thomsen of West (15.6), CF’s Ken Bowman (15.2), Charlie Cyganoski of Tolman (13.9), Cumberland’s Kevin Coleman (13.7), Rabe’s teammate Paul Rankowitz (12.3) and Gary Stott of Lincoln (12.2).
